Kylie's First Deer!!!

Who'd have thought it would be so much of a buzz!!??? Now I can see why Rik loves going out hunting so much! Think he'll regret taking me though, cos i'll wanna tag along all the time now, and never let him take a shot.
We went for a deer at Tom Bryant's place over in Canvastown, had to do a little stalking and crawling to get a good spot, right on nightfall, but it was a perfect first shot, through the heart at about 150m with the 7mm .08 - powerful loud gun, that kicked back and gave me a good crack on the nose!
Rik was looking through the binoculars, "You've missed it" he said. "Really?" I dunno how I'd hit one then because I thought I aimed it pretty well. So we went for a walk to have a look around further up the valley, and then came across the deer which had just dropped over the brow of the hill. Can't wait for the next trip now.... :o)

Mahana School Family Fiesta

Heaps of people came to eat, drink, and have some fun at the school Fiesta on Saturday evening! Izzie was a backup singer for her bud, Taylor - they sang "There's Something in the water" by Brooke Fraser. Jed and his classmates all performed a dance.
TP's Woinderful waffle Emporium was Tom and Pako's stall, they made yum waffles and raised $103 for the fair. Some of the Makos came along and Jed was their tour guide. Glen, Ben, Chris and Sam were there and Sam went for a dunk in the pool.

The weather went cold so we wrapped up and ate food while watching the Commonwealth games on the telly!! Jed had his 8th birthday too- great fun at the Mot Top 10 Holiday Park. Fav pressies were his Makos top, and hunting gear!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY IZZIE!!

Had a great birthday celebration for Izzie this weekend.
She had some mates over for a sleepover, they made their own pizzas for tea, and watched some movies. Then we had croissants and waffles for brekkie!! Today we went bowling and Izzie made a gorgeous necklace inspried by the beading book she got for a gift. Thanks for the i-pod speakers Sarah and Jas - they are so cool - have been grooving all day!!

Rangers Rugby - Jed

Jed is coming to the end of a great rugby season with his Rangers club team. A few of the boys are his mates from school, including one of his best buds, Josh. They are undefeated! Jed loves the Sat morning games, not so keen on practice tho - and is looking forward to starting 'tackle' rugby next season. At the moment they are just playing 'Rippa" where you have to grab the opponent's flag from their waist belt. Jed seems to like the wing and scoring the runaway tries, which he does every week!

I'm so busy! I'm making cards with my friend Miki. We are fundraising for an orphanage over in Papa New Guinea. They are $2.00 each, with nothing written inside(Photo above).

Also making wheat bags with my friend Hannah. 1/4 of the money is going to the Mahana School Senior Room camp. Large: $8.00. Medium: $7.00. Small: $6.00(Photo above).

If you are interested in either of these things, contact me(Izzie).
